Hallettsville -- Millie Appelt, 95, of Hallettsville, died Friday, March 9, 2001.

She was born Sept. 25, 1905, in Hallettsville, to the late Charles and Helene Elstner. She was a retired school teacher after 45 years for Lavaca County. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of Americas, Retired Teacher Association and Sacred Heart Church.

Survivors: daughters, Nettie Cullen of Plano and Donna Gail Coldewey of Eagle Lake; son, Poochie Appelt of Hallettsville; brother, Hilton Elstner of Hallettsville; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by: husband, Edgar Appelt; sisters, Nettie Rothschmidt, Gertrude Elstner, Margurite Zappe, Della Sommer, Dolores Toland, Helen Pohl, Lillie George, Hilda Poth and Mary Lee Strauss; and brothers, Carl Elstner and William Elstner.

Visitation was held 4 p.m. Saturday at Kubena Funeral Home chapel.A rosary was recited 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the chapel and will be recited 1:30 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Church.Services will be 2 p.m. today at the church, the Rev. John Peters officiating.Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Kubena Funeral Home, Hallettsville, 361-798-3271.

Pallbearers: Michael Appelt, Darrel Appelt, Eric Appelt, Jim Cullen, Patrick Cullen, Sean Cullen, John Coldewey and Kurt Coldewey.
