Osborne West Appelt, born July 17, 1915 in Halletsville, Texas passed away on Monday, November 19, 2001 at the age of 86.

"Ozzie", as he was known to his friends, graduated in the class of 1937 at Texas A & M University with a degree in Engineering. He married Lila Stone Buckaloo while serving as a flight instructor in the Air Force at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas on December 28, 1943.

Lila and Ozzie moved to her home town of Three Rivers, Texas upon his completion of military service, having attained the rank of Lt. Colonel. He soon began and operated O. W. Appelt & Co., a propane marketing business, for 38 years. He was a 57-year member of the Gonzales Masonic Lodge #30 and was a Scottish Rite 32 Mason. He also maintained a long term membership with the Shriners Association.

Ozzie is survived by his wife, Lila, and two sons; William O. Appelt and wife, Donna of Three Rivers, Texas and James M. Appelt and wife, Janice of Houston, Texas.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Galloway & Sons Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 23, 2001 at 10:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Three Rivers, Rev. John Alsbrooks officiating. Interment will follow services at Three Rivers Cemetery.
