Funeral services for Gaylen Mark Ackley, 42, of Bellville were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Industry Volunteer Fireman's Hall. Burial was in the New Ulm Cemetery in New Ulm.

Mark died peacefully shortly after 6 p.m. on Sept. 4, 2002 in Bellville General Hospital in Bellville. He fought a courageous and inspiring battle against cancer.

He was born to C. Gaylen Ackley and George Ann Johnson on Jan. 21, 1960 in Richmond and grew up in Austin County. He leaves behind a host of family members and friends.

Mark was employed at Industry Telephone Co. in Industry for 28 years and was elected seven times as Constable of Austin County Precinct 2.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gaylen Ackley, and his mother, George Ann Johnson Janosky.

His survivors include his devoted, loving wife, Michelle Barton Ackley and their children, Nicholas Mark, Allison Michelle and Christopher Mark; his "Other Mother" Mary Ann Ackley of Industry; "Other Father" Raymond Janosky of Bellville; in-laws, Barbara and Bob Hedrick of Houston; his brothers, sisters and families, Robin and Harold Marek and family of New Ulm, Sheila and Curt Raeke and family of New Ulm, Larry Ackley of Austin, Raymond Janosky Jr. of Bellville, Kim and Rodney Wendt and son of Bellville and Scott Janosky of Bellville. Grandmothers, Thelma Walker Ackley of New Ulm, Clementine Schattel Barton of Houston, and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were under the direction of Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel.
