Funeral services for John Emanuel Abell, 80, of Sealy were held July 12 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sealy with the Rev. Bernard Snock officiating. Burial followed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Sealy.
He died July 9 in Sealy, Tx.
He was born April 15, 1920 in Paragould, Tx, the son of Emanuel and Ella (Pike) Abell.
He was united in marriage with Mildred Crites and then he married Elsie Kopecky on July 4, 1968 in Galveston.
He was raised and attended school in Paragould. He was a surveyor in the civil engineering field, member of Knights of Columbus, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and worked with the Meals on Wheels program.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters.
Survivors include his wife, 3 daughters, Bonnie Hurt and husband Jim of Kenton, Tn., Barbara Baker and husband Don of Memphis, Tn. and Nancy Ray and husband Robert of Paduka, Ky.; 2 sisters, Ella Martin of Paragould and Mary Young of Mobile, Al.; 6 brothers, Frank Abell of Raleigh, NC., Burt Abell of Indianoplis, In, J P Abell of Wickenberg, Az., Pike Abell of Titisville, Fl., Nace Abell of Las Vegas, Nv., and Wayne Abell of Paragould; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild; and 13 nieces, 13 nephews, and the mother of his children, Mildred (Crites) Abell of Union City, Tn.
Pallbearers were fellow members of the Knights of Columbus.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Knesek Family Funeral Chapels of Sealy.
