Ruby Abel, 73, of Marlin, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2001. Services will be
at 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Richard Jenkins
officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Ruby Mae Jund Abel was born Nov. 21, 1927, in Falls County, to Fred and Agnes
Baresch Jund. She married Walter H. Abel on October 21, 1951 at Perry Methodist

She was employed with Family Life Insurance Casualty Company, Sherwin-Williams
as assistant manager, Deputy County Clerk for Falls County and farmed and
ranched for more than 50 years. She supported her husband's work as Branch
Manager for Sherwin-Williams. She was the Salutatorian of the class of 1945 of
Marlin High School, attended Texas Women's University in Denton and was an
accomplished pianist and organist, having served several area churches.
She also sang in the church choir for many years. She loved gardening and
sewing. She was a member of First United Methidist Church of Marlin where she
served on the church board and was past president of United Methodist Women.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Walter H. Abel of Marlin; son,
Randall Abel of Marlin; daughter, Nancy Abel Elfrez of Spicewood, Texas; and
seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Gafford, Ricky Abel, Daryl Lyons, Greg Lynch, Ronnie
Strobl and Michael Jund.
